Surfers competing in the fourth event on the Foster’s ASP Men’s World Tour – the Globe WCT Fiji – were delighted this morning when they awoke amazing two metre (four to six feet) and perfect Cloudbreak.
Cloudbreak is one of the most perfect waves in the world and the members of the tour’s elite top 45 in the world, plus the three wildcards, are anxious to get out amongst it and take advantage of the lengthy tube rides on offer.
“We’ll send out round one at this stage and will look at running further heats if conditions are still perfect,” said Contest Director Steve Robinson. “We want to take advantage of the swell on offer and give the guys the best opportunity possible to show their stuff.”
First heat of the day will kick off at 8.30am local time.
Check out the full round one heat draw by clicking on the RESULTS button on www.globefiji.com or by going through www.aspworldtour.com
The draw was changed last night due to the withdrawal of Kelly Slater (USA).
The number one seed for the event is now Andy Irons (HAW) while the number two is tour rookie and giant killer Bobby Martinez (USA).
Make sure you don’t miss any of the action by staying glued to the LIVE webcast available on the sites above.
After each day's play check the Media Centre for transcribed athlete quotes, notes from each heat and audio downloads.
