OCEAN CITY, NEW JERSEY (Sunday, August 6th, 2006) – Dylan Graves (Isabella, PRI) took down the $10,000 Oakley Pro Junior presented by Heritage Surf and Sport today at 7th Street Beach in Ocean City, New Jersey.

Graves, who was ranked fifth on the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) North America Pro Junior series prior to this event, took advantage of today’s slightly larger conditions (1-foot plus) and blasted through a stacked final that included Adam Wickwire (Satellite Beach, FL), Nick Rozsa (Oxnard, CA) and Devon Tresher (New Smyrna Beach, FL).

Perennial favorites and top-five stalwarts Eric Geiselman (New Smyrna Beach, FL), Sterling Spencer (Pensacola, FL) and Cory Arrambide (Ventura, CA) suffered surprise eliminations going down before reaching the semifinals – Geiselman and Arrambide went down in Round 4, Spencer in the Quarterfinals. Their early eliminations opened the door for a potential ratings shift which Graves, Wickwire and Rozsa took advantage of – updated ratings will be available this week on www.aspnorthamerica.org.

The 2006 ASP North America Pro Junior series has been hotly contested with competitors battling it out for the highly-coveted seeds in the ASP Pro Junior Championships held in Narrabeen, Australia, in early January. The four top-rated surfers from each region receive an invite to the prestigious event, which has crowned such celebrities as Joel Parkinson (AUS), Andy Irons (HAW) and Adriano de Souza (BRA). The winner and runner-up of the World Championships will also be awarded wildcard invitations to all of the six star WQS events in 2007.

The next stop on the ASP North America Pro Junior series is the Grade-One event that will run in conjunction with the East Coast Surfing Championships in Virginia Beach from August 23 – 27, 2006.
