Fiji’s Cloudbreak Reef has turned on first-rate conditions for the world’s best women surfers on the final day of the Roxy Pro.
“There’s a six foot (two metre) building swell, with some eight foot sets (2.5m), and the winds are favorable – classic Cloudbreak,” contest director Rod Brooks said.
Eleven ASP Women’s World Tour surfers remain in contention for the Roxy Pro crown, including reigning world champion Chelsea Georgeson (AUS), defending Roxy Pro champion Sofia Mulanovich (PER), and current ASP Women’s World Tour ratings leader Melanie Redman-Carr (AUS).
The Roxy Pro is the second of eight events on the ASP Women’s World Tour and it carries US$78,300 prizemoney and valuable ratings points. First place purse is US$10,600. Four heats of round three, the quarters, semis and final remain and will take approximately six hours to run.
The remaining heats of Roxy Pro round three will feature:
HEAT 5: Chelsea Georgeson vs. Julia Christian
HEAT 6: Samantha Cornish vs. Silvana Lima
HEAT 7: Rochelle Ballard vs. Claire Bevilacqua
HEAT 8: Layne Beachley vs. Jessi Miley-Dyer
