BILLABONG PRO MUNDAKA SURF CONTEST ON HOLD AGAIN FOR DAY 4

MUNDAKA, Spain (Friday, Oct. 5, 2007) – The Billabong Pro Mundaka will not run today. After assessing conditions at both Mundaka and the back-up site at Bakio, Round 2 of competition has been officially called off.

“It was a tough call today because there is a fair bit of swell but the banks here at Bakio are really straight and are closing out,” Contest Director Mike Parsons said. “We have eight days left in the waiting period and a lot can change here in Europe so we’re going to gamble a little bit. We’re expecting another little swell on Sunday and Monday so we’re going to see what happens then. We’re still hoping the weather maps will change and toward the end of the waiting period we’ll get some good Mundaka, but between now and then we’ll probably have to surf again here at Bakio – it just wasn’t good enough today.”

Another call on competition status will be made tomorrow morning in Mundaka at 7:30.
