The wave factory of Supertubos has been turned OFF for the past two days.

SUPERTUBOS, Peniche/Portugal (Friday, October 11, 2013) – The Rip Curl Pro Portugal presented by Moche has been called OFF again today due to inconsistent surf at the primary venue of Supertubos in Peniche.

Event No.9 of 10 on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour, the Rip Curl Pro Portugal presented by Moche started Wednesday with the completion of Round 1 in beautiful conditions and will resume when the waves allow it.

“It’s very small again this morning, definitely not contestable for the World’s Best,” Richie Porta, ASP International Head Judge stated. “We’re monitoring the evolution in the upcoming few days and hopefully can re-start competition soon.”

Contest officials and surfers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 7:45am to re-assess conditions for a potential 8am start.

Up first when competition recommences will be Mick Fanning (AUS), 32, against Fancisco Alves (PRT), 20 in the first heat of Round 2.
