The newly-refurbished Volcom Fiji Pro tower awaits the recommencement of competition.
CLOUDBREAK, Tavarua/Fiji (Tuesday, June 5, 2012) ? A lay day has been called for the Volcom Fiji Pro with only small surf on offer at the primary venue of Cloudbreak.
Event No. 4 of 10 on the 2012 ASP World Championship Tour, the Volcom Fiji Pro has enjoyed two full days of competition and has elected to wait until conditions improve before recommencing.
?There?s not much on offer out there today and we?ve called an official lay day for the Volcom Fiji Pro,? Matt Wilson, Volcom Fiji Pro Event Director, said. ?The swell charts are showing significant activity for later in the week so we?re confident that we?ll have waves to run in. That said, we?ll be back tomorrow morning to assess conditions and make another call then.
Surfline, official forecasters for the Volcom Fiji Pro, are calling for a SSW swell to arrive later in the week.
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow morning at 6:30am to assess conditions for a possible 8:30am start.
When competition resumes, up first will be Bede Durbidge (AUS), 29, up against Adam Melling (AUS), 27, in Heat 11 of Round 2.
