South Carolina’s Cam Richards will be one top seed at the Ron Jon Quiksilver Pro Junior.

COCOA BEACH, Florida/USA (Wednesday, March 6, 2013) – The Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) 3-Star Ron Jon Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Junior is set to unfold at Sheppard Beach Park from March 6-10, 2013.

The Ron Jon Quiksilver Pro Junior represents the third stop on the ASP North America Pro Junior Series while the Ron Jon Roxy Pro Junior is stop No. 2 for the women, and the event will play a crucial role in deciding who will qualify for the 2013 ASP World Junior Tour.

Ian Crane (San Clemente, CA), 20, current No. 1 on the ASP North America Pro Junior Series, is one of several top seeds traveling to Cocoa Beach in search of the important points on offer towards qualification for the ASP World Junior Tour. With only a few events remaining on the calendar this season, Crane knows a top result at the Ron Jon Quiksilver Pro Junior will be vital in helping his chances of joining the global elite during his last season as a junior competitor.

“With the shortage of events this year going to Florida to do this contest is really important to qualify for the World Junior Championships,” Crane said. “Being that its a 3-Star, its one of the highest stared events of the year and a good opportunity to grab some valuable points for the ratings.”

Crane, who secured his first career ASP victory at the North Shore Surf Shop Pro Junior at Sunset Beach earlier this season, is entering the Ron Jon Quiksilver Pro Junior with a newfound confidence and hopes to back up his result this week.

“Coming off the win at Sunset is a huge confidence booster coming into this competition because I proved to myself that I can win in this level of competition. I just want to back it up and prove to myself that it wasn’t a fluke that I won at Sunset.”

Parker Coffin (Santa Barbara, CA), 17, current No. 4 on the ASP North America Pro Junior Series, was also a finalist at Sunset Beach and is hoping to maintain his form in Cocoa Beach. Coffin additionally expressed the importance of a top result at the Ron Jon Quiksilver Pro Junior in order to achieve his goal of qualifying for the ASP World Junior Championships and hopes the promising swell expected in the coming days will provide the perfect grounds for an exciting event.

“The last contest at sunset was an absolute dream run so I’m really just trying to look at the year and have some fun,” Crane said. “Obviously qualifying for World Juniors is a top priority, so I’m preparing to allow myself to just surf and make some heats. Florida is a big event for us this year so I’m definitely going to be well prepared and ready to surf some heats. I heard through the grape vine that there is supposed to be some waves too so I’m really excited. I’ve been to Florida before and we surfed some super fun waves. I know it can get super fun here so let’s just hope that this swell they are predicting shows up!”

In addition to the men’s competition, the Women’s Ron Jon Roxy Pro Junior will host 32 girls who are hungry to assert themselves on the regional rankings.

The Ron Jon Quiksilver and Roxy Pro Junior holds a waiting period from March 6-10, 2013 and will most likely commence competition on Friday, March 8th.
