ASP Women’s WCT Rookie Bianca Buitendag (ZAF), 19, will surf in Heat 2 of Round 3 at the TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival.

TARANAKI, New Plymouth/NZL (Friday, April 5, 2013) – Round 3 of the TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival featuring the Dow AgroSciences Pro is back on this morning in clean three-to-four foot (1 metre) waves at Fitzroy Beach with the potential to wrap the event by day’s end.

Stop No. 4 of 7 on the 2013 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour (WCT), the TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival kicked off yesterday in ideal offshore conditions, allowing the event’s first perfect 10-point ride by Californian Lakey Peterson (USA), 18, among several other-top notch performances.

“We plan on beginning competition at 8am this morning with Round 3,” Jessi Miley Dyer, ASP Women’s World Tour Manager said. “We have great surf on offer this morning and have placed the remaining rounds of the event on standby for a possible run today.”

Up first this morning will be reigning five-time ASP Women’s World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS), 25, Courtney Conlogue (USA), 20, and Rebecca Woods (AUS), 28, in Heat 1 of Round 3.

The TSB Bank NZ Surf Festival featuring the Dow AgroSciences Pro holds a waiting period from April 3 – 7 and is webcast LIVE via http://www.nzsurffestival.co.nz/
