Drug Aware Margaret River Pro Women’s Semifinals would kick off an electric day of competition, with reigning two-time ASP Women’s World Champion Carissa Moore facing off against five-time World Champ Stephanie Gilmore.

Moore would grab the first wave of the heat, but failed to capitalize on any substantial scoring potential. Gilmore would follow, notching two midrange scores, taking an early lead.

The Hawaiian would fight back, however, belting a 7.50 and 8.33 on back-to-back rides with an array of progressive forehand surfing, pushing Gilmore in to a combination situation.

The Australian would break the combo, but Moore would take the win, advancing to her first Final of the year.

Semifinal 2: Tyler Wright (AUS) 15.83 def. Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) 12.67

Women’s Semifinal action culminated with an all-Australian affair as Sally Fitzgibbons faced off against compatriot Tyler Wright.

Fitzgibbons bolted out to an early lead, dissected to the wild and wooly righthanders with impressive precision.

However, it was Wright who would ultimately answer back with unmatched power and strength, taking on the sections with reckless abandon and advancing directly to her first Final of the season.
