Dusty Payne (HAW), 24, will take on 11-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA), 41, in Round 3 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast when competition resumes.
SNAPPER ROCKS, Queensland/Australia (Monday, March 11, 2013) -The Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover, Event No. 1 of 10 on the 2013 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT), has been placed ON HOLD this morning until 10am with the potential to resume competition as early as 10:30am.
“We have clean conditions and will monitor them through this morning’s tide before making a call to resume competition,” Rich Porta, ASP International Head Judge, said. “We do expect to run some heats today so we’ll return for the next call at 10am.”
When competition resumes, up first will be Dusty Payne (HAW), 24, versus 11-time ASP World Champion Kelly Slater (USA), 41, in Heat 7 of Round 3.
Event organizers will reconvene this morning at 10am to assess conditions for a possible 10:30am start.
